Description:
Specific problem with NetVault: Backup, APM for Informix on Linux
Symptoms:
1. When restoring a database a "XBSA Error (BSAGetObject) Backup object does not exist in Storage Manager" error is generated.
2. The restore fails.
3. In this case the Informix database has been previously renamed.
4. Tracing the Informix APM shows the restore trying to access a file with the old naming conventions:
3 XBSA :23290 5 0 091023 Owner->bsaObjectOwner: INFORMIX
3 XBSA :23290 6 0 091023 Owner->appObjectOwner: informix
3 XBSA :23290 7 0 091023 objName: ffbe3db0
1 XBSA :23290 8 0 091023 objName->objectSpaceName: /ol_kerri
1 XBSA :23290 9 0 091023 objName->pathname: /ol_kerri/rootdbs/0
Check the ixbar file for the Informix Database and ensure that all the entries have the new database name, entries from before the database rename will have the old database name.
Explanation:
The ixbar file is an informix generated file which stores information about all backups performed on the database by onbar. Entries in the ixbar file look like this:
ol_cleo rootdbs R 1 1 0 1956 1176367626 2007-04-12 09:47:06 1 5 55922 1 0 - - 5 1176367626 1176304061

The first field is the instance name.
In a situation where the Informix instance has been renamed and this file has not been purged, there will be entries at the beginning of the file with the old Informix database name. There appears to be a problem with the way that Informix parses this file and the old name is retained.
Replacing all instances of the old name with the new name in the first column allows the restore to work.
