Oracle backups seem to complete, but hang at the point where Control file and SPFile Autobackups start.
Logs indicate the Backup has completed and it is starting the backup of the Control file and SPFile, but the job does not progress any further than this.
For Control file and Spfile Autobackups to complete several requirements must be met.
The Oracle Database need to have CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
But also the NetVault Oracle APM needs to be configured correctly to accept the autobackup within NetVault Media Management.
Verify that the Oracle Plug-in Configuration screen has the appropriate name of the Netvault Server in the Netvault Server entry field. It must be the same exact name. If capitals are used, then capitals must be placed in the name field as well.
See Solution 78983 for more details: https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?id=SOL78983
Also, after the verification of the Exact name in this field, on older versions of the Oracle APM, the nvpluginaccess may need to be run to allow for the Netvault Server to authenticate with the Oracle server and run RMAN CLI backups and restores, as outlined in the Oracle APM user guide. Be sure you are using the exact name of the Netvault server and Netvault Client involved.
Unfortunately, the current job will need to be aborted at this point and restarted with the new Configration changes that are made.
