The job fails with the following error message "Unable to get contact address for <<client name>>"
A backup job that will back up files from one client to a smart client fails with the following error message "Unable to get contact address for <<client name>>"
This usually means that the client doesn't have the contact information for the NetVault server in its machines.dat file, possibly because it hadn't been added properly, or something is blocking the exchange of the contact information.
Copy the machines.dat file from the NetVault Server's %Netvault%\etc folder to the client's %Netvault%\etc folder where the backup is coming from.
1)- Stop the NetVault Service on the Client.
2)- cd into the client's %NetVault%\etc
3)- delete or rename the file machines.dat
4)- Start the NetVault Service on the Client.
5) You might need to add or check access to the client from the NetVault Server Client Management Window.
