The logs "pwdHlp64.log" & "AePAgent64.log" are growing very large on a Domain Controller. What can be done?
The above details the 64bit logs, there are also 32bit versions named "Pwdhlp.log" and "aepagent.log" which are located on 32bit Domain Controllers.
These logs have grown quite largee in the %:\Windows%\Aelita\Aepagent\ folder on a Domain Controller.
The Directory Synchronization, or Migration of account passwords installs the Aepagent on Domain Controllers during the process, and t hen the agent is uninstalled. These logs are left behind on the machines, and are not necessary for typical troubleshooting.
These logs can be purged or deleted as they will be recreated the next time the Aepagent is installed on the machine.
-Stop the Directory Synchronization,
-Ensure there are no Migration Sessions Running,
-Open the log file from %\windows%\aelita\Aepagent\
-Press CTRL+A to select all content and Press DEL or Backspace to remove the highlighted information
-Close and save the file
-Alternatively, you can safely delete the files to free up space.
These logs are not created in the newest releases of Migration Manager 8.8 and above.
These logs are never used by the support department & a request to stop their creation has been made of the development team for future releases of Migration Manager for AD.
