Restoring a backup of a samba share to alternate windows target fails with
Job manager lost message channel unexpectedly
The binary reports the above error message
The file system plugin on client reports , the job manager trace all reports connection down.

There is not connectivity issue between client and server as other restores complete successfully.
Solution/Workaround:
The share was not backed up as a share. Instead it was backed up as a local disk with the File System plugin.
Backup the share as network share as specified in the documentation of the file system - section Configuring a Network Share
Do the restore.
