If you use the fo_postscript parameter with Quest NetVault Replicator (NVR), be aware that the script starts before NVR is ready to begin replication. As a result, some changes might not be replicated if you start the application that uses your target files on the Source Host.
For example, if you use PostgreSQL and you enter the following in your fo_postscript script, some transactions might not get replicated, which in turn corrupts the data on the Destination Host.
#!/bin/sh
/etc/init.d/postgresql start
To work around this issue, Quest Software recommends that you insert a delay sequence in the script, such as shown in the following example:
#!/bin/sh
(sleep 5 && /etc/init.d/postgresql start) &
(In this example, replace 5 with an appropriate number of seconds for your environment, and replace postgresql with the applicable application.)
