Description:
The following message is received while installing NetVault on Linux:
~/util/nvsetstanza: error while loading shared libraries: libnv6.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Failed to set first configuration value
Post install script failed!
Symptoms:
While installing NetVault on Linux, users often make the same mistake in the install prompt.
When the install prompts you for the path where NetVault should be installed, some users omit the fact that
they need to explicitly enter the entire path.
Here is an example of a common mistake:
...
Where should NetVault be installed? [/usr/netvault] : y
Where should NetVault database be installed? [y/db] :
Based on what the user has entered, NetVault install script will try to install NV in the given path: y/db, which is ilegal and doesn't exist on the machine.
The installation will fail with the following error:
...
Creating symbolic links
y/util/nvsetstanza: error while loading shared libraries: libnv6.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Failed to set first configuration value
Post install script failed!
However if you run the install again this time specifying the correct path, the install will complete
successfully:
Where should NetVault be installed? [/usr/netvault] : /usr/netvault
Where should NetVault database be installed? [/usr/netvault/db] : /usr/netvault/db
- When prompted "Where should NetVault be installed? [/usr/netvault] :" make sure
you explicitly enter the desired path and make sure it is legal.
- The path you enter will be used by the install script to propose "Where should NetVault database be installed? [usr/netvault/db] :"
- failure to specify a path will result in the install script trying to install Netvault on the given erroneous
path, leading to the above error being returned.
