Description:
Backups failing with the following error - "Too many NV processes running at this time"
Symptoms:
"Too many NV processes running at this time" in NetVault Logs.
Cause:
The amount of shared memory NetVault's process manager is configured to use, is not enough given the number of currently running processes.
Determine if the Operating System needs to be reconfigured with a larger amount of shared memory (refer to Operating System documentation).
1. On the "Service" tab of the configurator, stop NetVault service
2. Go to the "Process Manager" tab
3. Increase "Shared Memory (Kb) Used for Process Table" in increments of 2MB (2048KB), up to a maximum of 16384KB***.
4. Press the APPLY button
5. Start NetVault
Repeat steps 1-5 above until backup jobs run reliably.
*** NVBU8.x has a maximum Process Table size of 128MB. On modern servers with large amounts of RAM it is recommended to Increase "Shared Memory (Kb) Used for Process Table" in increments of 8000KB (8MB), up to a maximum of 128000KB (128MB).
