How to upgrade Oracle APM from version 5.x to version 6
If you are using a permanent Oracle v5.x Edition Based License Key with Oracle v5.x, you MUST obtain a new license key from Quest before upgrading to v6.0 of the plugin.
Request the new license key here - https://support.quest.com/LicenseKey.aspx
Oracle v5.x Edition Based License Keys were issued between June 2007 and May 2008.
If you are using an older Oracle Online or Oracle RMAN APM permanent license key, a new permanent license key is not required.
You must uninstall the existing Oracle v5.x and install Oracle v6.0 to ensure that the APM configuration screens are updated with the new options. Additionally ensure that all the Backup and Restore windows have been closed prior to the upgrade.
After upgrading to Oracle v6.0, the Default Attributes for the plugin must be re-entered. This is true whether an evaluation key or permanent key is currently being used for Oracle v5.x.
When upgrading to Oracle v6.0 from the Oracle Online or Oracle RMAN APM, note the following:
The concept of a backup method has been introduced. The Oracle APM offers two backup methods, User Managed and RMAN. The User Managed backup method correlates to the backup method used by previous versions of the Oracle Online APM while the RMAN backup method correlates to the backup method used by previous versions of the Oracle RMAN APM.
Backups taken with previous versions of the Oracle Online APM or the Oracle RMAN APM can be restored with the consolidated Oracle APM.
All backup jobs from previous versions of the Oracle Online APM or the Oracle RMAN APM must be recreated due to the introduction of a backup method option and other new features built into the consolidated plugin.
