For version 3.0 of the MySQL APM, the advanced option "Discard after X Full Backups" increments generations at the incremental level, as well as the full level.
Every instance of a MySQL backup increments the generations tracked by the "Discard after X Full Backups” option. For example, if the option is set to 2, and a full and 2 incremental backups are performed, then the 3rd incremental backup will make the 1st incremental expire. If two more full backups are run, then the 1st full will expire.
Use the "Discard after X Days|Weeks|Years" to expire by date, rather than generations.
