Trying to trouble shoot an Oracle connection error, I decried to click on the ellipse box next to Oracle client field. When the Oracle Home Editor pops up, I notice it had the following entry
C:\Oracle\Product\<version>\client_1\bin exists.
C:\Oracle\Product\<version>\client_1\bin is NOT in PATH.
What does the "NOT in PATH" mean?
It means that there is a problem with your Windows Environment Variable with respect to the Oracle client in question. Your Oracle bin path entry can be completely missing or wrong.
You can check by doing the following then making the appropriate changes necessary from the Windows Environment Variable window.
1. Go to start run and type in “cmd”
2. Type “path” at the prompt
