When using Recovery Manager for Exchange and attempting to restore large amounts od data from a large EDB (300+ GB) the restore works for several hours but then the console stops responding and the following error message is displayed:
Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown
As per the error message the host machine has run out of memory and cannot continue. Extended Logging may have caused the machine to run out of resoures.
If the mailbox being restored is large eg 200GB + it is highly recommended to use the Automated Tasks method of restore. This is much less resource intensive. This error can also occur if Extended Logging is enabled, while restoring from large EDB's disable Extended Logging and attempt the restore again.
To Disable Extended Logging:
Open Recovery Manager for Exchange console
Right Click the top node (Recovery Manager for Exchange)
Select Settings - Logging Tab
