This procedure describes how to manually generate a support bundle on Windows and Unix/Linux Performance Analysis (PA) installations.
There are several reasons you may need to generate a manual support bundle for the Middleware and your Monitored hosts.
The most common is that you cannot connect via the PA Client to generate one.
For all 3 database types the directory names are slightly different.
Also, the script to run is different on Windows than UNIX/Linux systems.
The file name to run is:
generate_support_bundle_updated.bat (Windows)
generate_support_bundle_updated.ksh (UNIX/Linux)
The location of the file is the same with the only difference being the database type:
SQL Server: ..\Quest Software\pa_agent\3566\agents\SC_MSSQL\7.0\bin
Oracle: ../quest_software/pa_agent/3566/agents/StealthCollect/7.0/bin
DB2: ../quest_software/pa_agent/3566/agents/SC_DB2/7.0/bin
For UNIX/Linux systems it will put the support bundle here:
/tmp/sc####.tar.gz
On some Unix environments, you may have to run the script as follows:
. ./generate_support_bundle_updated.ksh
The bundle will be generated under: ../agents/StealthCollect/7.0/common/quest_sc_admin/data
On Windows it will be whichevery directory you select. The default is:
..\agents\7.0\common\quest_sc_admin\data
Inorder to collect the GUI support bundles (logs), please copy the below folders from the location:
C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Quest Software\Performance Analysis 6.0
C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Quest Software\Performance Analysis Common
C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Quest Software\Performance Analysis (DB_TYPE) 6.0
Please send the support bundle to the Quest Software Support team when a manual support bundle is requested or if the file is greater than 7M then ask the Support Representative to create a directory path on our ftp site for the file(s).
