The server which holds the Foglight Agent Manager (FglAM) has been restarted. After restart of the server the FglAM did not start up, the folder permission of the installation folder changed to root.
Before restart the folder owner was foglight:
bash-3.00# ls -l
drwxr-xr-x 8 foglight monitoring 256 Sep 20 12:39 Foglight_Agent_Manager
After restart it is root:
bash-3.00$ ls -l
drwxr-xr-x 8 root system 256 Sep 22 12:02 Foglight_Agent_Manager
The permissions and ownership of the file system are governed by the mount point. The permissions and ownership needs to be changed on the mounted file system, not on the mount point.
To solve it:
- use the "umask" mount option to set the file/directory permissions for the mount or
- use the "uid" and "gid" mount options to control who owns the mounted files
