When trying to check-IN any Group Policy Object using GPOADMIN, an error appears in the GUI:
There is no such object on the server.
Selecting 'Show details' button reveals:
System.DIrectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException (0x80072030): There is no such object on the server.
The CN=Storage Options object is likely not present in either an Active Directory or an AD LDS Configuration Store. This can happen if you try to configure GPOADMIN with insufficient rights or someone has deleted the container accidentally with ADSIEDIT.
The container is located under the Configuration container | CN=Services | CN=Quest | CN=QGPM | CN=Wentworth
The easiest method to resolve this problem is to remove the CN=QGPM container and reconfigure the version control again by launching the GPOADMIN MMC.
1. Launch ADSIEDIT and bind to the configuration container
2. Navigate to CN=Services | CN=Quest
3. Delete the QGPM container and all of its child objects. When you do this all version control information will be removed from QGPM and you will lose your backup information and will need to re-register your GPO's and start over.
4. Re-run the GPOADMIN MMC console. It will step you through the reconfiguration.
It may also be a good idea to move your old GPO storage files from either the network share or SQL DB. (ie. Create new Network Share or New SQL DB if that is your storage method).
Please use extreme caution when using ADSIEDIT to delete objects. You can cause great damage if you delete the wrong object.
