Received the following when starting the agent
Alarm: Fatal on<instance name>by Availability at <date and time>
Message: Oracle: A new connection to instance failed: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
. (Connect Method: Net Service Alias )
Net Service Alias name may not be resolvable to check availability. Use Connection Description instead.
Verify if the Oracle agent is configured to run properly.
Check the settings under from within the Web Console under Dashboards | Administration | Agents | Agent Status.
Under the ASP properties( AgentStatus|Edit properties) for the Oracle agent
1. Under Availability section, change Check Availability using: Connect description Agent has to deactivated and activated for changes to take effect.
2.In Connection section, Servicename should be listed in Service Name:
<On the oracle side, run the following to check for listener availability using the servicename configured in the ASPs. You have to be logged as Foglight Oracle agent user
3. Under SQLNet monitoring , click on edit and it will list the location to listener.ora. Make sure this path is correction.
Verifyif the Foglight Oracle agent user can open listener.ora file on that path.
