Installation of Collector component fails at the Monitored Instance Setting screen. This occurs after supplying a Windows user which has a SYSADMIN server role for Windows Authentication.
The error message displays:
User <domain\username> is not a member of the SYSADMIN server role. Please provide a user with SYSADMIN server role.
SQL Server is using Windows Authentication mode and middleware server is unable to make an ODBC(TCP/IP) connection to the monitored host through this mode.
1. On the middleware machine, go to SQL Native Client configuration to add an alias to point to the monitored host using TCP/IP as the protocol. E.g.:
Alias name : Servername
Port no: 1433
Server : Hostname/IPAddress (depending on what was supplied as the monitored host to the installer)
2. Resume Performance Analysis installation.
If SQL authentication mode is present, attempt the installation using SQL authentication mode.
The cause can be confirmed through the presence of this error in the Performance Analysis install.log
Msg = [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Cannot generate SSPI context
This confirms that the installer experienced a SQL Server error - a Database exception when it tried to validate permissions.
