How do you stop a single instance of Performance Analysis for Oracle, when you have it installed against multiple instances on the same server machine?
From the command line either on Windows or Unix server machines you can use the quest_launher -command routine as per the examples below:
The command below shows us what instances are running on the server machine:
D:\pa_agent\PAO\PA6.5_MW_3568\agents\bin>quest_launcher -command -status -port 3568 (showing multiple instance processes running on same port)
PRODUCT VERSION PROCESS INSTANCE STATUS PID
AgentManager 2.0 guard common RUNNING 3276
AgentManager 2.0 installer-0 common RUNNING 2388
AgentManager 2.0 installer common READY
AgentManager 2.0 guardcmd common READY
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_mw TOR017079-PAOREPDB RUNNING 7268
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_mw TOR017079-FOGLIGHT RUNNING 2304
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_rep TOR017079-PAOREPDB RUNNING 8156
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_rep TOR017079-FOGLIGHT RUNNING 4076
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_os_monitor common READY
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_admin-0 common RUNNING 1184
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_admin common READY
Using the command below will show us what processes we having running for an individual instance:
D:\pa_agent\PAO\PA6.5_MW_3568\agents\bin>quest_launcher -command -status -port 3568 -user quest -pass quest -instance TOR017079-PAOREPDB (one instance processes listing)
PRODUCT VERSION PROCESS INSTANCE STATUS PID
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_mw TOR017079-PAOREPDB RUNNING 7268
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_rep TOR017079-PAOREPDB RUNNING 8156
The command below stops the PA processes running for the selected instance TOR017079-PAOREPDB
D:\pa_agent\PAO\PA6.5_MW_3568\agents\bin>quest_launcher -command -stop -port 3568 -user quest -pass quest -instance TOR017079-PAOREPDB -all
Stop StealthCollect@6.0@quest_sc_mw@TOR017079-PAOREPDB [y/n] ? y
Stop StealthCollect@6.0@quest_sc_rep@TOR017079-PAOREPDB [y/n] ? y
You can then check the status of the processes using the command below:
D:\pa_agent\PAO\PA6.5_MW_3568\agents\bin>quest_launcher -command -status -port 3568 -user quest -pass quest -instance TOR017079-PAOREPDB
PRODUCT VERSION PROCESS INSTANCE STATUS PID
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_mw TOR017079-PAOREPDB READY (DOWN)
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_rep TOR017079-PAOREPDB READY (DOWN)
Then please run the command below to check that the PA processes are down.
D:\pa_agent\PAO\PA6.5_MW_3568\agents\bin>quest_launcher -command -status -port 3568
PRODUCT VERSION PROCESS INSTANCE STATUS PID
AgentManager 2.0 guard common RUNNING 3276
AgentManager 2.0 installer common READY
AgentManager 2.0 guardcmd common READY
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_mw TOR017079-PAOREPDB READY (DOWN)
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_mw TOR017079-FOGLIGHT RUNNING 2304
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_rep TOR017079-PAOREPDB READY (DOWN)
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_rep TOR017079-FOGLIGHT RUNNING 4076
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_os_monitor common READY
StealthCollect 6.0 quest_sc_admin common READY
You can see that for the instance PAOREPB, the processes are shut down while the FOGLIGHT instance processes remain up and running
**** But there is one problem with the command line shutting down we have noticed is that the processes do not stay shutdown; the Launcher starts them up in a minute

To prevent them from starting up, we suggest that you follow the procedure of DISABLE=YES for each of these processes in web administration of the said PA Instance. But this is unnecessary complication and the easiest way is to use the GUI. We would recommend that the StealthCollect processes of a given PA instance be shut down from GUI.
