What administrative rights do I require in order to operate Migrator for NDS?
When using Migrator for NDS, it is recommended that the following permissions are held:
- Full Administrative access to all NDS objects and files you wish to migrate.
- Domain Admin rights on all appropriate Domains within Active Directory and Local Administrator rights on the Target Data Server.
- NTFS Permission on the SQL 2000 Server in order to create the NDS Migrator Database.
- Member of the Local Administrator group on the Computer where NDS Migrator is installed.
NOTE: If Full Administrative permissions are not granted, access to objects (containers/users/groups/files/folders) may be denied resulting in a failed migration. Please verify that the migration (logged on) account being used to Novell has sufficient rights to view *ALL* object, file and folder attributes on the Novell side.
Please be aware that although Migrator for NDS does not change the source files, Supervisor permission is the minimum permissions for NDS Migrator to browse the full NDS tree and access all the necessary NDS info the tool needs during migration. This is required by NDS for security reason, and without Supervisor permission, Migrator for NDS will get Access Denied when trying to read these info.
