If the Foglight Management Server (FMS) is not accessible for any reason, sometimes any instrumented applications (JBoss, Weblogic) in J2EE will fail to start. If the Performasure instrumentation is taken out of the Application Server startup scripts, the JBoss application will start ok.
This can be because the Performasure instrumentation was added to a startup script other than the recommended ones for Weblogic and Websphere for example, or that the instrumentation code block from the "CartridgeForjavaEE.pdf" was not followed. The instrumentation code is designed to check and exit if the Foglight Server Nexus connection is not available for any reason.
Make sure the correct run.bat (JBoss) or startWebLogic.cmd (Weblogic) is edited under the DOMAIN_HOME and that the paths to the PERFORMASURE_HOME are correctly set. Also for Weblogic, there is a specific code block for servers running Node Manager and those running without it.
