Oracle Performance Resource Breakdown (% of Workload) shows CPU at 99% -
Description
Looking at the Oracle Performance Resource Breakdown (% of Workload) area of the hompage in PAO, the CPU of Oracle is at 99% but the total CPU utilization on the server is only 18%.
What am I to understand that "Oracle is at 99%"? Is it waiting for CPU or getting all the CPU it needs? -
Cause
Misinterpretation of the data. -
Resolution
The 99% is not 99% of total system resources, it is the % of the total workload compared to all the other resources listed there. Since your system CPU usage is only at 18%, it should be getting all the cpu it needs. This is just telling you that of the resources being used by Oracle, 99% of it is cpu usage. The true CPU utilization of the system is found under the "System Utilization" section to the right.
