Overview of What's New
- Query Insights : Provides a birds-eye view of an organization's most time-consuming and frequently executed queries, allowing users to focus on those causing significant performance issues, ultimately reducing MTTR.
- Expanding Targets Support: Foglight Databases Global view now supporting SAP HANA, Redshift, Snowflake, and Redis, businesses can gain a complete picture of their entire database environment.
- Foglight now includes two new Availability Group Alarms, which provide early warning of latencies that could harm availability by detecting deviations from the normal operation of a specific availability group, rather than a hard-coded threshold set for all.
- The Audit dashboard has undergone significant improvements in its user interface and user experience.
- Security enhancements include an updated default encryption algorithm to AES-256 and the ability to use an OS non-administrator user for monitoring SQL Server.
- Foglight for Databases continues to provide comprehensive monitoring and performance management for various database platforms, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, SAP HANA, Redshift, Snowflake, Redis, and more.

User Experience Enhancements
- Introducing Query Insights - Allows Foglight users to see the most time-consuming and frequently executed queries across the entire environment, in addition to a wide variety of other performance metrics to ease MTTR
- New Audit Log dashboard - Modernize and improved UI. Include the ability to filter audit-logged messages
Security Enhancements
- FglAM installer for Windows platforms is generated at build time, signed with the Quest certificate during the build, and shipped with the product. Users can now download an executable that they can verify has been produced by Quest and can trust. (FOG-4056)
- Updated default encryption algorithm to AES-256
- Updated Java JRE used by Foglight to version 1.8.0_352
- Updated third-party libraries
Improvements
- PagerDuty cartridge is provided without the need for a special license (FOG-4816)
- Enhance Databases Global view support for SAP HANA, Redis, Redshift, and Snowflake

Upgrade and Compatibility
Important:
- To upgrade from a 5.5.x Management Server to 5.7.1 or later, you must first upgrade to 5.6.2 (or a more recent 5.6.x version), and then to 5.7.1 or later.
- To upgrade from a 5.6.11 Management Server to 5.7.5.x, you must first upgrade to 5.7.1, and then to 5.7.5.x.
- To upgrade from a 5.7.5.x Management Server to 6.1.0, you must first upgrade to 5.7.5.8, and then to 6.1.x.
- Foglight Management Server (5.7.0 to 5.7.5.8) no longer supports authentication of Federation actions (such as clearing alarms) without specifying a secure token in the federation.config file. Previously configured installations in which Federated Master and Children were authenticated without a security token no longer allow authenticated actions. For more information, see the Federation Field Guide.
- In the 5.9.x release, configuration of SecurityToken in the federation.config file (adopted from Foglight 5.7.0 to 5.7.5.8) was removed. Therefore, configuring an SSL for Federation is required when you upgrade the Federation environment to release 6.1.x from a release prior to 5.9.x, if your Federation environment configures SecurityToken before. For more information, see the Federation Field Guide.

This will be the final Foglight release that supports the Foglight Agent Manager (FglAM) on AIX, Solaris and HP-UX platforms. Starting from the next release, FglAM installers will only be provided for Windows and Linux platforms.
