How to configure RemoteScan to use Direct IP transfer instead of Virtual Channel -
Description
RemoteScan currently utilizes the virtual channel feature for the following remote connection protocols:- Windows RDP
- Citrix ICA
- VMware Blast Extreme
- Parallels RDS
Important Note:It is strongly recommended the customer utilize a VPN to route TCP traffic between the user's PC and the Windows Server, as RemoteScan TCP traffic is not encrypted -
Cause
Certain remote connection client software (e.g. Go GLOBAL, vWorkspace, Amazon WorkSpaces) don't have a virtual channel feature which can be utilized by RemoteScan.
There may also be cases where a customer does have the option of using the virtual channel feature of their remote connection client, but prefers to use Direct IP instead, as the Direct IP method typically provides a faster data transfer than the virtual channel. -
Resolution
1. Within the RemoteScan client interface, click the Add button.
2. Within the RemoteScan Server Settings window, type the host name or IP address of the PC connected to the scanner in the text field next to Server Name,
then click the button which says "Check Your Connection to the RemoteScan Server."
3. If the connection is successful, the customer should see the following message:
