When using Recovery Manager to restore items to a personal folders (.pst) file, you may encounter errors during the restore operation. After the restore is finished, the number of restored items may not match the total number of items you have selected to restore.
The default maximum size limits imposed by Microsoft on each personal folder (.pst) file.
CAUSE:
The default maximum size limits imposed by Microsoft on each personal folder (.pst) file. These limits are as follows:
- For Outlook 2000-2002 .pst files: 1.933 GB per file. Size limit for this type of .pst files is not extendable.
- For Outlook 2003 Unicode-enabled .pst files: 20 GB per file. Size limit for this type of .pst files is extendable.
RESOLUTION:
Do the following:
1. Make sure that you restore items to an Outlook 2003 .pst file.
2. Make sure that the maximum size limit of 20 GB set by default for each Outlook 2003 .pst file is enough to accommodate the items you want to restore. If necessary, extend the maximum size limit. For detailed instructions, see the Microsoft knowledge base article "How to configure the size limit for both (.pst) and (.ost) files in Outlook 2003" available at <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832925/>.
