Will Performance Analysis (Oracle and SQL Server) stores the collector agent password to collect information from database?
Is it stored in middleware server or in each of the monitored database server?
How is the password saved in Solaris, HP-UX, IBM-AIX and Windows environment?
What encryption algorithm and key-length is used?
Performance Analysis (Oracle and SQL Server) does not save password for collector agent to collect information from database. The collector agent attaches directly to the memory structure of Oracle/Sql Server to collect information.
The password of the monitored host machine user will be required during the installation, however this password is not saved, this applies to all OS and platforms.
Starting from Performance Analysis version 6.5, user/password is encrypted with AES 256bits to comply with current security standards.
Database account credentials on the monitored instance which are used for low rate queries sent by the Middleware processes. This database account credential is used by the middleware processes, and should not be confused with the collector agent. For this account, the password is stored on the middleware server only.
