Is there a way to get Performance Analysis for SQL Server to work across domains when server are listed within DNS as the fully qaulified name? This means that the server to be monitored is within a different domain than the Middleware machine, but both machines are listed as their fully qualified name which includes the domain name on the DNS lookup network list.
Connection between the Middleware and Monitored host cannot be achieved without using the Qualified domain name of each server machine.
RESOLUTION 1.
Before running the PA_Agent_Installer to do an install, bring up an msdos prompt on the monitored host and run the command below:
PA_LSI_LOCAL_HOST_NAME=<host_fully_qualify_name>
The host_fully_qualify_name should be the hostname.domain name i.e. if the host is called uksupu04 and it is on a domaon called Prod then the command would be run as follows:
PA_LSI_LOCAL_HOST_NAME=uksupu04.prod
Once the above is complete, then please start the PA_Agent_Installer from the same msdos prompt to do the installation.
RESOLUTION 2.
Set the Environment Variable using the System-properties dialog, Environment variables
· Go to "My computer" right click and select "Properties".
· Go to "Advanced" tab and click "Environment Variables".
· Under "User Variables", add the following variables:
PA_LSI_LOCAL_HOST_NAME=<host_fully_qualify_name>
Then run PA_Agent_Installer
