What services do Recovery Manager for Active Directory and Recovery Manager for Active Directory Forest Edition use?

The RMAD-FE product does not have any services for it's own server, however it does have a service for the Forest Recovery agents. The RMAD-FE product will by default install the Forest Recovery Agent for every domain controller being backed up. The DC's can be found by opening the RMAD console and then going to each computer collection to see which DC's are being backed up. The service name is "Quest Forest Recovery Service".

Recovery Manager can also use services to backup the DC's. These are called preinstalled backup agents and run on the backed up DC's with the service name "Quest Backup Agent". However, it is possible to backup DC's without using the preinstalled backup agent. To find out if they are being used, go to the properties of each Computer Collection in the RMAD console and check to see if "Use preinstalled Backup Agent" is checked on the "Agent Settings" tab.
