Blank email sent from an Infrastructure Cartridge (IC) rule (4307785)

A blank email was sent from Foglight for the "Disk Volume Busy" rule.

An alarm fired for the "Disk Utilization rule" and a blank email was received shortly thereafter.

In log file the following messages can be found:

ERROR   [Data-3-thread-732283] com.quest.nitro.service.action.ActionHandler - Could not find variable: Subject2 referenced by: mail.subject called from rule CPU Utilization.
ERROR   [Data-3-thread-732283] com.quest.nitro.service.action.ActionHandler - Could not find variable: Text2 referenced by: mail.message called from rule CPU Utilization.
VERBOSE [Action-4-thread-20703] com.quest.nitro.service.email.EmailSenderService - Email has been sent to administrator@mydomain.com

In Infrastructure cartridge releases prior to 5.6.5, several rules had an email action associated with the normal condition. With the release of the Infrastructure cartridge 5.6.5, the email action associated with the normal condition was removed.

For any of the affected rules edited previously, Foglight to send blank emails after the Infrastructure cartridge was upgraded. This would also have been included when the database cartridge was either installed or upgraded as the Infrastructure cartridge may have been upgraded.

The following rules are included and updated with the IC cartridge 5.6.5 and may be affected by this issue.

1. Navigate to Administration | Rules & Notifications | Rules.
2. Use the rule editor to manually delete the email action for the normal severity.
3. Edit the rule
4. Select the rule condition
5. Select the Action tab
6. Delete the EmailAction
7. Click the "Save All" button
