This solution outlines how to configure a security role within GPOADmin for only Approval.
Resolution
Open GPOADmin and go to the properties of the connected domain
Go to the Roles tab and click Add New Role. Provide a name and click Next
Do not copy an existing role, just click Next
Select only Read access and Finish the wizard
This role will allow the user to connect to GPOADmin and only have read access. The user will still need to be listed as an Approver on the properties of the object they need to approve within the Version Control Root.
