Sybase: Cannot open ASE monitoring connection (4301912)

Sybase agent is unable to connect with the following failure

or

ct_connect(): directory service layer: internal directory control layer error: There was an error encountered while binding to the directory service

Common reason for a ct_connect failure include:

• Unable to allocate sufficient memory.
• The maximum number of connections is already established. Unable to open socket.
• Server name not found in interfaces file.
• Unknown host machine name.
• Adaptive Server is unavailable or does not exist.
• The login is incorrect, particularly if the password has been recently changed.
• Cannot open the interfaces file or a directory service session due to a permissions error for the "foglight" agent user.
• Cannot load requested directory driver.

• Passwords having ">" "<" and other similar special characters.

Please check the following:

• That the permissions on the interfaces (or sql.ini) file is readable to the “foglight” agent user
• The password has recently changed or is using a “special character”.
• If the Interfaces file is not correctly populated
• That the Adaptive Server is available
• In the Agent properties (ASP) under Sybase Home, enter the Sybase Home location that is on the same server as the Foglight Agent Manager
• Use ct_config to increase the maximum number of connections allowed per context.

Questions to consider:

Did this agent work previously?
When did this error begin to occur?
Has the password been changed recently?
Are there any special characters in the password? If so, please change the password to use non special characters.
Is the correct password set in the agent properties?
Can you ping the TESTSERVER server from the FglAM server?

A debug log file may give some more information.
