Cause
The database agent data is stored in the Repository FMS back-end database. Depending on various factors, as Retention Policy and Agent activity (according to the monitored environment characteristics, e.g.: multiple data files to monitor, frequently changing SQLs etc.), the Agent requires space to be available on the FMS Repository.Database agents with SQL PI extension enabled
Most of the data monitored is saved into the SQL PI Repository. Nevertheless, the FMS repository is used for Instance meta-data, Baseline data and other statistics. The default time frame for saving data is for 3 months in both FMS Repository and SQL PI Repository. -
Resolution
SQL Server Agent growth impact over the FMS Repository
- Once installed, the Agent will start gathering data and store it in the FMS Repository.
- The maximum growth expected for an Agent is: 3.3GB
- It will take about three months to reach the 3.3GB of disk space over the FMS Repository
After reaching its limit, the Agent growth will be stabilized and no additional space will be required over the FMS
Note: The above relates SQL Server agents without SQL PI extension enabled
Oracle Agent growth impact over the FMS Repository
- Once installed, the Agent will start gathering data and store it in the FMS Repository.
- The maximum growth expected for an Agent is: 3GB
- It will take about three months to reach the 3GB of disk space over the FMS Repository
After reaching its limit, the Agent growth will be stabilized and no additional space will be required over the FMS Repository
