The feature named Transformation has been in existence since the advent of Shareplex 4.0 and up. The main purpose of transformation is to manipulate the replicating data so that the data on the target can be presented (or populated) in a way so as to be more conducive to certain type of reporting (typically in a data warehousing environment). The question arises as to whether data from multiple source tables can be merged into a single target table during such manipulations.
General information.
Transformation cannot be used it to merge rows from multiple source tables into a single target table.
Transformation will only manipulate data from ONE source table and send it to ONE target table. An example of valid Shareplex Transformation would be to have separate fields for first name and last name on source table and combine these two (concatenate the two) so that there is a single field for name containing both first and last name.
