When running ora_setup in recent versions of SharePlex, you come across the following question:
“Will the current setup for sid: <SID_name>be used as a source?”
This solution delves on the implications of the response to this question.
General information.
You can say yes or no depending on whether the machine is used as a source or target. If the current SharePlex instance is a source and is changed to a target in future, or vice versa, you can re-run ora_setup to reflect this change.
The question is posed to the users to configure the appropriate login entry in the paramdb (or connections.yaml, depending on the SharePlex version) for the ASM instance, only if this is a source SharePlex instance. Meaning, though the question is posed when running ora_setup, the user should reply in affirmative if this is the source so that ASM login can be set appropriately.
