Is there a way to specify logic to increase the number of striped backup files for a backup so that the individual striped files never grow larger than a specified size?
Example: If the whole database backup is 20 GB and want it such that each striped backup file is no bigger than 5 GB, we use the logic [ if file size is greater than 5 GB, increase the number of striped files used ].
WORKAROUND:
None. The number of striped files must be defined when creating the backup.
An alternative would be to take a backup to use as a baseline. Once the size of the backup file is determined, this can be used to define the number of striped files to use in order to keep the striped files the size desired. The number of striped files used will have to be managed from time to time as the database grows.
