Error is generated on every start up of Toad for SQL Server. Initial startup of a brand new TSS install or if TSS was reset, the issue will not happen yet.
ERROR:
Access to the path 'C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server 6.8\Document Recovery' is denied.
ERROR IN LOG:
When TSS is started and the Editor is used, the 'Document Recovery' folder is created. When TSS is exited, this 'Document Recovery' folder is automatically deleted, if it's not needed for any recoveries.
The issue is the permissions or rights on the 'Document Recovery' folder is somehow changed, and therefore an 'Access is Denied' error is eventually received.
Per user report, this may be a Windows security issue. The issue does not happen on a fresh install of Windows 10. After an update of Windows 10 to version 17.09, the aforementioned issue starts happening. The same issue has also happened on other applications, not just Toad.
As a workaround, you can go to Tools | Options | Environment | General | turn off 'Document Recovery'. Please note that you will not have the document recovery protection in case of a crash; please save often if you turn off 'Document Recovery'.
