ORA-04031 in an alert log for an Oracle host -
Description
The following message was in the alert log of a host being monitored by a Foglight Oracle database agent:

Cause
An ORA-4031 is encountered in Oracle when More shared memory is needed than was allocated in the shared pool.This issue was caused by an environmental issue with the memory configuration on the ASM instance occuring outside of Foglight. -
Resolution
- Increase the memory allocation of the ASM instance. In this instance the recommendation was to increase it at least 1G because it was currently at 500mb.
- Once this is complete, restart the agents monitoring the host.
