Provisioning Failure
If a Desktop Authority provisioning failure is received or if the client provisioning box appears at each logon, it means that Smart Client Provisioning was unable to install the Desktop Authority client files on the machine on which this error appears. This article will describe the steps to take to ensure that Smart Client Provisioning will be able to install the client files.
In order to install the client files, Smart Client Provisioning needs to be able to either remotely access the machine from one of the Desktop Authority services, or acquire administrative privileges via elevation. -
Cause
If this error is you received, it typically means that all means by which Smart Client Provisioning acquires remote access or privilege elevation, is being blocked. There could be a variation of Active Directory, network, or configuration issues that can contribute to this issue. -
Resolution
In order to resolve the issue, any one of the following methods must be followed in order to allow Smart Client Provisioning to succeed:
Method 1: Allow remote WMI access
Method 2: Allow remote service management
Method 3: Disable UAC
If you are unable to use any of these methods, you must use the “GPO deployment” under Client Deployment mechanism, rather than logon-based provisioning, to deploy Desktop Authority client files to computers in your environment.
