*NOTE* The below is not supported but is a last chance effort in the event of total loss of a forest/domain. The product team is working on features for version 9.1 which will cover this scenario *NOTE*
Forest edition should be able to recover a domain in this situation, only if the original server from which the backup came from still exists. A system state backup taken from a server should not be restored onto a new server. In the event that the original server (and original OS installation) is still available, ensure that it has the same DC name that it had prior and use dcpromo to create the domain with the same name. Then use the forest recovery console to connect to the DC and recover. A hosts file entry may be required to connect to the DC in the event that DNS is not available.
