The object names are missing from the deadlock graph invoked from Spotlight -
Description
The deadlock graph invoked from Spotlight but displayed by SQL Server Studio Management is missing the object names. -
Cause
The XML generated by SQL Server does not contain the object names due to a SQL Server defect. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND
1) You may disable Extended Events to retrieve the object's name back:
2) Enable trace flag 1222 globally by executing DBCC TRACEON (1222, -1); against the database you are monitoring.
You will then be able to see the deadlock detail in the Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise error log, and will also be able to find objectname in it:
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this as defect in SQL Server 2008 R2 fixed in SQL Server 2012. It is unclear if they intend to address it in SQL Server 2008.
