How to keep users from being prompted for upgrade in CITRIX push out.
1. In any Toad instance, go to View | Toad Options
2. Go to StartUp and uncheck “Check for Toad Updates”
3. Click “Apply”
4. All Toad settings are stored in a file called Toad.ini and that file is located in the following location
In Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\<version>\User Files
In Windows 7 - C:Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\<version>User Files
5. Grab Toad.ini file and place it into C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle <version>\ClientFiles\User Files
6. When they launch Toad the first time, it will copy the contents from the ClientFiles including the Toad.ini into their individual App Data folder
Notes:
A. If you already pushed out Toad and users are already using Toad, then they already have their own toad.ini in the location mentioned above. In order for Toad to push out the toad.ini in the ClientFiles\User Files folder, you have to delete the toad.ini that current exists on the users App Data folder. If Toad sees a Toad.ini file in the location I listed above, it will not push out the Toad.ini in the ClientFiles\User Files folder to the user’s App Data folder.
B. If you already pushed out Toad and users are already saving their connection passwords and customizing their Toad layout, deleting their Toad.ini and pushing out this Toad.ini from the ClientFiles\User Files folder will cause them to lose their customization and saved passwords. We can’t doing anything about the customization but we can keep the passwords. Before you grab the “template” Toad.ini, make sure you go to View | Toad Options | Oracle | General and check “Save passwords for Oracle connections.” Then do steps 3 to 7.
