The EPSON COM Emulation USB Port (COM4) in Device Manager is unable to start (Code 10) when USB Port-Security (USBPS) is installed.
This issue will be generated even when no USBPS ports are being locked down.
This will stop the teller software from printing to the EPSON printer.
"The EPSON software is an emulation driver that takes a USB receipt printer and binds it to a COM port. It manifests itself in device manager in two areas. The first is the controller listed under the USB Controllers section of Device manager and the second is the emulated COM port listed under ports also in device manager. We have added the controller to the exclusions of our Port Security Policy and it appears to be operating normally but the Emulated device is reported as cannot start with an error code 10 and since this is an emulation, there is no VID, PID and SN to use for an exclusion in Port Security exclusions. Again, all of this clears up when we remove Port Security."
Please apply the registry setting listed below to the affected system.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e978-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
