How to rename a printer and remove the old printer name/icon from your network -
Resolution
In the DA (Desktop Authority) Manager:
Create a new element in “Printers” object with printer settings of printer you want to rename.
Set the element to “Remove” the printer.
Browse to printer server and rename the printer in Printer Properties | General | Sharing tabs.
In DA Manager, change printer name in original printer element to new name.
Confirm that the new “Remove” element is placed above the original printer element in element list so that it executes first.
Save and replicate and the new printer name should show on any device that has that printer available. The old printer name will be removed. After ensuring that the new configuration executed properly, the “Remove” element can be disabled, save and replicated, then deleted.
