When trying to migrate an archive with Groupwise Migrator for Exchange you may receive the following error:
"ERROR: Unable to open GroupWise archive 'XXX"
These errors are typically caused by one of the following two conditions:
1. The archive root directory was not specified correctly while configuring GroupWise Migrator for Exchange.
2. The archive proxy rights were not properly created or have become corrupt.
If you are experiencing proxy rights issues from using AddProxy then here are some issues and corresponding solutions that will help assist in troubleshooting:
AddProxy utilizes Novell APIs supplied with the GroupWise Client to automatically set proxy rights for a specified proxy account as each user logs into GroupWise. Unfortunately, there was a bug in the Novell APIs that did not allow proxy rights to be added for users with certain versions of the GroupWise Client. Novell reports that the bug was introduced in version 5.5.2 and corrected in 5.5.5. However, some customers have reported problems with 5.5.6.1 as well.
If your users are running a version of the GroupWise Client that contains this bug, you have two options for completing an Administrator-Driven Batch migration:
A. Use GroupWise Migrator for Exchange in Password Mode.
Typically, customers implement this by dividing the users into migration groups. Then they use the following procedure:
1. Create copies of the UsersToMigrate.csv file called mig1.csv, mig2.csv, ...,migN.csv. You will need one copy for each migration group.
2. Add a "Password" column to each migN.csv file.
3. Remove all users from each migN.csv file that are not in the corresponding migration group.
4. Populate the "Password" column in each file with a known value (e.g. password).
5. As each group is ready to migrate, change each user's GroupWise password to the known value (e.g. "password").
6. Use the appropriate migN.csv file as input to GroupWise Migrator for Exchange.
B. Use AddProxy to modify an existing proxy right.
Existing proxy rights can be modified by Addproxy even with versions of the GroupWise Client containing the Novell API bug. As a result, you can use the following procedure:
1. Each user deletes any existing proxy rights for the designated proxy account.
2. Each user adds any proxy right (e.g., read mail) for the designated proxy account.
3. In addproxy.ini: change AllowAdd=1 to AllowAdd=0.
4. Put addproxy.exe in each migrating user's network login script.
5. As users log into GroupWise, Addproxy will run and update the existing proxy account with the necessary access for the migration.
Note: Addproxy is still needed under scenario 2 above, because GroupWise 5.5 Clients do not provide the ability to manually set proxy rights on archives. As a result, users are not able to manually add all of the proxy rights required for migration.
"Unable to run program. Error 4294967295"
This error indicates that one of the Addproxy components was not copied to the Addproxy program directory or network drive. Please confirm that addproxy.exe, _addproxy.exe, and addproxy.ini are all present in the install/execution directory.
