In the list of TSQL batches there is a certain amount of Unknown Stored Procedures and they cannot be identified for SQL Tuning or drilldown.
Performance Analysis keeps a Data Dictionary list of TSQL statements which, when submitted to the Dictionary, are assigned an object ID and can then be listed individually in the GUI display (or Tops report). By default the Dictionary refresh takes place every six hours so any new TSQL statements presented within that refresh time will appear as Unknown Stored Procedures.
It is possible to configure the refresh rate with the Agent Administration, click on Agent Options and Sampling Rate tab left hand side. Here the user can also perform a manual refresh of the Data Dictionary under the Dictionary Sampling section of the Sampling Rate tab.
In a cluster environment please check:
- go to <install dir/StealthCollect/7.0/<Host-Instance>/quest_sc_mw/config
- backup file quest_sc_mw.cfg
- open the file and make sure that the hostname is the virtual hostname. Search for host and you will find the hostname in the collector configuration; change it to the virtual name if it is not in use yet.
Do the check for each node.
If you feel there is an excessive or inexplicable amount of Unknown Stored Procedures, contact Quest Technical Support, raise a support case and upload the middleware support bundle to enable the Support Engineer to check the error logs for Dictionary refresh issues.
