This is due to “Remove My Documents desktop icon (user’s folder in Vista)” being disabled (unchecked). In the prior version of DA 8.1.2, the shortcut could not be restored after removal. The option was set when enabled (checked state) only to remove My Documents from the desktop but not to reverse the setting and add it back when disabled (unchecked state). This anomaly has been fixed in DA 9.0.
Make sure the checkbox for “Remove My Documents desktop icon (user’s folder in Vista)” is checked.

Desktop Authority will restore the personal folder shortcut.
Desktop Authority will perform no operation with regard to personal folder shortcut on the affected system.
Desktop Authority will remove the personal folder shortcut from user’s desktop.
