Description

The ChangeAuditor agent service will not start after installing the ChangeAuditor agent on a server.

The following is logged in the ChangeAuditor Agent log:

Level: ERROR

Thread: 7960

Logger: TorzagLib.Common.RSA

File: RSA.cpp

Function: TorzagLib::Common::CRsaProvider::Initialize

Line: 67

Message: Failed to initialize key set: 0x8009000f
Cause

The ChangeAuditor agent account (typically "Local System") does not have permission to add a key to the MachineKeys directory

The Marchinekeys directory is located in the following default hidden path:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys
Resolution
1. On the server with the failing agent, navigate to "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys"
2. Right-click on the folder and select "Properties".
3. Select the "Security" tab.
4. Add or Modify "SYSTEM", and give it "Full Control"
5. Restart the ChangeAuditor Agent host or service.
