How to automatically start Spotlight and make connections to existing profiles from a command line (DOS)?
The following command does not work for command line start:
.\Spotlight.exe "/CONNECT:spot/spotpass@SERVER.WORLD|user01/pass@server/unix(rexec)"
RESOLUTION 1
You can use the Spotlight Launcher (that is shipped with Spotlight) to automatically start Spotlight and make connections to existing profiles.
The simplest way is to create a batch file with the following 3 lines:
Path=%path%;C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Spotlight\Console
spotlightlauncher /productid:SoO /connect:Connection+String=profilename1
spotlightlauncher /productid:SoRAC /connect:Connection+String=profilename2
The Spotlight Launcher can be found in the C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Spotlight\Console folder.
For more information on this, please refer to the Spotlight Launcher End User Guide available under (default location) C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Spotlight\Console\Help.
RESOLUTION 2
There is also an alternative to using the Spotlight Launcher. It doesn’t provide quite the same level of configuration that the Spotlight Launcher does, so it may not be appropriate. On the other hand, it forgoes the need to set-up scripts or links to the Spotlight Launcher.
From the main menu of Spotlight:
1. Select View | Options | Start-up | Initial View
2. There are a list of options to choose from. Select: "When Spotlight starts, restore the state as it was when Spotlight was last closed"
3. A dialogue will then be shown to confirm the customer’s selection.
4. Close the options dialogue.
As long as you do not close Spotlight without disconnecting your connections, next time Spotlight starts, it will recommence monitoring from where they left off.
