How to configure an DB_Oracle agent to monitor the standby instance in an Data Guard environment?
The standby database instance can be monitored using the Oracle cartridge, but the monitoring can only be done when the standby database is opened (not performing redo apply).
Regarding the agent configuration, the auto discovery process will be different:
1. The Foglight user will be created only once for the primary database.
2. The granting privileges script should be run only for the primary database: the "Verify connection" stage should be run first for the primary database.
3. After the "Verify connectivity" stage is completed for the primary database instance, the "Verify connectivity" and "Monitor" stages can be run for the standby database.
4. Make sure the standby database instance is in the open mode prior the agent configuration.
NOTE:Please notice that prior failover the primary and the standby instances are monitored as 2 separate database instances.
After the failover only the standby instance will be monitored, without any treatment of failover in the agent.
