Without a MIB, can Foglight generically accept SNMP traps?
Please check out: SNMP Trap Receiver Workflow
So essentially, if one has not loaded a MIB:
An unformatted trap is a trap that is not defined in Foglight. A trap is defined when the Trap Definition is loaded into
Foglight by loading its MIB file.
If the trap definition is defined in Foglight, it is no longer considered unformatted.
Agent properties displays one of the following, when traps are sent in Foglight without a trap definition.
Undefined_Trap_Creates_Alarm
Undefined_Trap_Alarm_Duration
Undefined_Trap_Severity
By default these will not trigger an alarm, but by setting the ASP value “Unformatted Traps Generate Alarm” to true, it will generate an alarm.
Please try this to see if it works for you.
In case custom MIB is necessary the collection that comes with the SNMP trap definitions or even the Quest MIB that comes with Foglight could serve as an example.
