Oracle parameters, Determining if Oracle R12 in relation to pointing at the RUN or PATCH instance -
Description
This refers to Database -> Administrator -> Oracle Parameters list and there are hundreds of parameters listed.How TOAD deals with editioning in Oracle R12.2.4?How does the user know or change the file server that TOAD is pointing to when editing a table? User wants to be in the PATCH instance, not the run instance?How does the user know where it is pointing and how does it change it if it's not pointing to RUN?Which one shows if it is pointing to PATCH or the file server? -
Resolution
If this is referring to Oracle EBusiness suite (since it is referring to 12.2.4) at the time of this writing, Oracle latest db version is 12.1.0.2.
It is recommend one contact Oracle to find out what parameter they need.Toad doesn't know if it's a patch/run instance. Toad just connects to whatever one tells it to connect to (and really, it's the Oracle client that makes the connection, not Toad). Whatever that points to is what the user is connected to.
When you go to Database -> Administer -> Oracle Parameters, Toad is basically just showing you the contents of the V$Parameter view in the database and giving one a GUI to change them.

Additional Information
Development was making and educated guess here, but the parameter is probably outside the normal db parameters and are specific to the EBusiness suites schemas.
